This “richness within restraint” also hints at its lasting appeal. Independent folk music centered on uncertain fragility and somber melancholy is not uncommon, but she handles this theme, which could easily become stagnant, with fluidity and luster. However, the conclusion feels somewhat abrupt, slightly undermining the completeness of the overall structure.
