A soundtrack album derived from Charli XCX’s original conceptual film exhibits a strong conceptual orientation in both narrative and sound design. The album presents a stylistic contrast within: on one hand, there are aggressive, rhythm-driven techno tracks, while on the other, more spatial and weightless ambient soundscapes showcase a clear experimental approach through the deconstruction and reassembly of timbres. These two elements are not simply juxtaposed but revolve around the same emotional core—the emptiness, exhaustion, and a certain damp, melancholic mood that follows revelry. From a production standpoint, the granularity and layering of sounds are finely controlled, with some sections using changes in spectral density to create a “scene-shifting” effect, lending a certain cinematic and narrative quality. However, there are occasional issues with pacing, as some passages progress somewhat flatly or lack sufficient development in motifs, causing the overall tension to dip in the middle section. Nevertheless, as a soundtrack serving a visual concept, its completeness in atmosphere construction and emotional coherence is quite substantial.
