The gloomy and somber post-punk atmosphere is built upon a rather meticulous production, but the predominantly spoken-word vocals come across as somewhat bland. The most captivating moments of the entire album almost entirely stem from the dense textures laid out by the guitar and bass: sweeping strums and low-frequency lines form the true emotional backbone. Overall, it is not a bad work, but it still falls a bit short of the expected “wallpaper-style” album that one could listen to on repeat.
